Biography
OPOV Band proudly presents to you Bass player, Andrew Postell. Andrew is one of 3 original members of OPOV Band and is duly noted for being an intricate team player with a direct approach, motivated and serious. He has helped to create the bands solid foundation with 7 years under his belt. Andrew has always had a love for music. He adds that his entire family is musically blessed! He described that in his family it was mandatory that everyone take music and/or band in elementary school. He played the trombone beginning 3rd grade until his 10th grade year in the marching band. Surprisingly, he picked up his first bass at the age of 16, but didn’t take it seriously until he was 19 years old. Andrew’s musical influences are Bass players, Stanley Clark, Brian Bromberg, Victor Wooden; Marcus Miller, Fred Hammond, Andrew Gouche’ and Abraham Laboriel. Andrew has played with many local artists and churches. He has traveled with Mrs. Katie Sankey for years. He also released his first CD in 2009 entitled, “The Time Has Come.” Andrew is a writer and producer of music. He produced and recorded artist, Cheryl McWhorter’s CD in 2016. He is currently working on a gospel CD. These days, Andrew plays bass for Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
In his spare time, Andrew enjoys bowling, traveling on his motorcycles, playing chess; watching and playing sports, baking pound cakes and remodeling homes. Regarding OPOV Band, he states that the original concept of OPOV Band was not to be just another band. “We have established a band with a Christian foundation and family atmosphere, operating on a professional level. As a result of this concept, I really enjoy being member of OPOV Band.” Andrew wants to continue to strive towards being a better musician and to make OPOV Band the “premiere” band in the state of Alabama.
