The world was given great artists such as Marvin Gaye, Darius Rucker and Michael Jackson, just to name a few, OPOV Band was given Carl Lewis, the soulful and energetic male lead singer who’s musical roots sprouted in the state of passionate member of OPOV Band for 4 years. To many fans, Carl is simply the ice breaker, one of the best hype men and a downright bold voice that reaches out and grabs you instantly. Carl tapped into his love for music and singing during his college career. This was large in part due to Carl’s first experience with heartbreak. That pain catapulted him into singing love songs that were relatable to how he was feeling at the time. Carl shared that his mother, Alice greatly influenced his love for singing, as well as Marvin Winans, Prince, Michael Jackson; Jeffrey Osborne and Michael McDonald. Carl has participated in 3 separate national music competitions and many local competitions as well. He was even a news segment, “Hometown Hero.” Carl has a 5 song demo released on Apple music entitled, “The Push EP,” and he also has a love ballad named, “Nevertheless.” When Carl isn’t performing with OPOV Band, he is weightlifting, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, exercising and cheering on Alabama Crimson Tide football.

Carl credits OPOV Band for giving him a solid foundation to express his gift to sing and entertain along with a group of talented individuals who love God and love to work together as a team. He has a goal of generating more enthusiastic supporters and for OPOV Band to be the number 1 cover band in the state of Alabama and eventually over the southeastern region. Carl said that he’s excited about making original music that will be discovered by the masses nationally and internationally.
